The Symbol

The symbol you see is the name of a being whose words were communicated to me over a ten-month period. It is, I believe, the name of the Creator. The symbol appeared, in part, one day on a computer printout, a month or so into an experience unlike anything that I had known previously or could have imagined possible, from my traditional upbringing. I thought it was a typographical error or a computer malfunction. It was neither.

In December of 1996, after completing two volumes of poetry and short stories, I started to receive information from, what I soon recognized as an external source. They were not my own words; they were not internal ruminations; the process was not within the realm of “creative writing.” It was as if someone were calling me on the telephone, except there was no ring, there was no telephone.

Although I was a reluctant and frightened participant, at first, I gradually accepted what was happening, interrupting my daily activities, to record the words of this unseen and distant presence. The interruptions were inconvenient but, manageable and exquisitely timed. It also seemed to be leading to a definite endpoint. That endpoint came on October 12, 1997, when an Intercession in three sections, Silent Dialogues, Elaborations, and Final Offering, was completed.

This Intercession answers most of the important questions that mankind had addressed, in one way or another, since the recording of conscious thought. It makes sense of those things that have made no sense, interpretations by others that have never felt quite right. It explains, instructs and discusses topics such as creation, evolution vs. special creation, evil, free will, reincarnation, infinity, life’s work, acceptance and regret, a new definition of soul, suffering and negative experiences, beings from other dimensions, the reality of dreams, overlapping dimensional geometries, death and continuity, and the meaning and purpose of life… offering comfort, clarity and hope.

More importantly, I am now convinced, it is a way to change everything, on both a personal and universal level. It asks for nothing and promises everything. Its words and name seem to penetrate to the deepest recesses of being, effecting powerful and permanent transformation, with virtually no effort or requirement, other than to approach them with an open heart.

By definition, in order for the symbol to be the universal name of the One, it must subsume and incorporate all other symbols. It must resonate within each person who gazes upon it, perhaps stirring forgotten memories or deep emotions, even rejection. In order for its words to be true, they, too, must meet the same rigid standards…and be consonant with the knowledge and belief system of the individual reader.

These are not easy times in which we live, and I suspect there are many trials yet to come. Perhaps the One Infinite Creator, who has made its name known through this symbol, speaks now, in response to a universal yearning for guidance. Perhaps it is answering our call.
